We are not trying to stoke the fire. It’s always been there. The Delhi-Mumbai love hate relation and the ever tilting scales of popularity have been subjects of banter between the people of the two biggest cities of the Indian subcontinent. And the hospitality industry is no different. Travel critics have said a lot about the difference between the hotels of the two megapolises. We are affiliated to hotels all over India – including Delhi and Mumbai. So we thought we should add our own take to the epoch debate between Mumbai and Delhi Hotels.
Mumbai is breathtakingly fast and unforgiving to those who do not value speed. The city’s dynamics are best explained by its hotels – punctual, efficient, professional. And yes, there’s the Marine drive, the Nariman Point and the Chowpatty. A business traveler loves Mumbai; because this is one place he can work tirelessly through the day and have a relaxed time sipping coffee at the Mariott or enjoy drinks at Zenzi. The sheer energy of the city is infectious. However, Mumbai hotels and services’ tariffs are a little on the higher side when compared to Delhi.
Delhi. You’ll love the vast open spaces which are a rare luxury in Mumbai. Delhi appeals more to the conformist – your average traveler who loves his food and is fascinated by the hundreds of famous tourist hotspots that Delhi is home to. He loves being driven around the President’s House, the Parliament and enjoys shopping at Khan Market. Another plus in Delhi’s favor is the much improved Public Transport system with the introduction of the Metro rail for intra-city commutation. And the food? Well, let’s just say we have a clear winner here – Delhi. Although, Mumbai’s bar and nightlife score way above that of Delhi’s.
It gets really confusing – this comparison. Since we have been unable to pick a clear favorite, we would love to hear your take on the Delhi-Mumbai rivalry. Keep your comments coming.
